WHY STORIES IN BLOOM?
Hi, I’m Marika, the founder, chief wedding planner and designer of Stories in Bloom.
For those of you who are curious, in this short post I’ll be sharing with you the story behind Stories in Bloom. I’ll tell you how I came up with this poetic name and what it says about our mission and the culture I wanted to build within the company.
I’ll admit it took me a long time to find the right name for my business…
Before I came up with Stories in Bloom I agonised for weeks, months even, thinking about what name would perfectly reflect my mission, style, personality and overall philosophy on weddings.

If there was one word I had to use to describe my style, that word would definitely be romantic.
Although I am quite a logical, matter-of-fact kind of person, I am also a true, hopeless romantic at heart. I knew from the beginning that the name of my business needed to capture the beauty and romance I saw in weddings.
To me, there is nothing quite as romantic as flowers and foliage. In event design, I am drawn to flowers more than anything else, and I believe that having impactful florals at your wedding can make the biggest difference to the overall look of your day (especially when combined with incredible lighting!).
For a long time, I thought of names for the business that featured specific flowers, but none of them sounded quite right to me. Although the gorgeous blooms and décor were an important part of my style, to me wedding planning isn’t just about the visual aspect of the day.

I believe wedding planning is about the couples that found their true soulmate and decided to spend the rest of their lives together.
The name of my business had to express my belief that each wedding should reflect the couple who was getting married – their lives, personalities, and most importantly – their love stories.
I spent lots and lots of time brainstorming and playing with different words and expressions, but as soon as I uttered the name Stories in Bloom, I knew that it was (no pun intended!)The One.

I finally found the words that expressed what weddings to me are truly about – the beautiful love STORIES that, like everlasting flowers that never wilt, are always and forever IN BLOOM.
Because your wedding isn’t the beginning, nor the end of your love story.
It’s a promise that lives on forever in your hearts. It’s that big romantic scene when you vow to write the rest of your chapters together. And that, in itself, is more breath-taking than all the flowers in the world.
Telling beautiful love stories through stunning, unforgettable events is our passion, and our mission is to make your wedding day the most wonderful, memorable day of your life.
